International Financial Services, London (IFSL), is the only independent cross-sectoral representative of the
UK
financial services industry. It is uniquely placed to deliver a focused and concerted service promoting the industry to enable the
UK
financial sector to build on its lead, reinforce its global image and develop the scope of its services in the international marketplace.
IFSL is a private sector, not-for-profit, membership organisation, funded by its Members, the Bank of England and the Corporation of London. IFSL also works closely with UKTI as its key delivery partner for implementation of the Chancellor's initiative on Financial Services. It has over 30 years’ experience of successful promotion of the
UK
’s financial services industry.
Through a network of geographic and sector committees, IFSL identifies and responds to its Members needs and supports their individual activities. It also works in partnership with them to help in the development of international business. It works closely with UK Government departments such as the FCO, the Treasury and the DTI to promote the sector.
IFSL’s Activities
IFSL organises visits by international business people, leading politicians and municipal and national government officials to
London
and other
UK
financial centres, in order to introduce the full range of services available and to establish and deepen personal and corporate contacts. IFSL also works for greater liberalisation of international trade in services and for the removal of constraints on services earnings arising from tax and other regulations both in the
UK
and overseas. IFSL’s Economics unit researches and publishes statistics that increase awareness of the
UK
's role in international financial markets and the contribution of financial services (overseas earnings in particular) to the
UK
economy. IFSL works closely with the Bank of England, the UK Office for National Statistics and a wide range of member organisations in the pursuit of its objectives in this area.
